Mayor’s Painting Extravaganza April 20-22
Mayor Elin Walker Jones is organising a pier painting weekend from Saturday 20th April to Monday 22nd April. The painting will include areas such as the gates, the railings and the fixed benches. All materials will be provided but come dressed appropriately (old clothes/overalls). Meet at the entrance to the pier at 10 am. There will be free snacks for lunch for all who help courtesy of the Tafarn y Garth. FBGP volunteer welcomes the inspiring Electric Cranks Cycling Club to the pier
FBGP volunteer Fiona was delighted that her first shift back recently at the Entrance Kiosk on the pier was not only on a sunny day but that she met an inspiring group of cyclists raising money for heart transplants. The Electric Cranks Cycling Club stopped off at the pier as part of a 100+ mile challenge along the North Wales Coast. All the cyclists are waiting either for heart transplants or have had LVADs fitted (Left Ventricular Assist Devices) and cycle everywhere on their electric bikes to not only try and get fit but to make everyone aware of their life saving devices. They are easy to spot with their distinctive purple Mohawks on their cycle helmets! One of the cyclists was from Bangor and Fiona was very interested to hear how form him how the amazing device (LVAD) fitted at Wythenshawe hospital had saved his life 2 years ago.
