DISCOVER THE KIOSKS
BANGOR GARTH PIER
At intervals along the length of the pier deck, you will see pretty little Victorian kiosks, each of which contains a small enterprise to interest and delight you, and at the far end of the pier, the large dome of the Pavilion invites you to sample a snack, a full meal, or just a refreshing drink. So look below and discover more about what awaits you On the Pier.
Friends of Bangor Garth Pier Shop
The Friends of Bangor Garth Pier Shop is a gift shop which is located on the pier and run by a team of volunteers. Inside you will find an eclectic range of goods, ranging from artwork to pottery to jewellery, all created by local artists and craftspeople. Several of the artworks that we sell have been commissioned by us and depict our pier in all its glory. Our aims are to raise money for pier restoration and support local creative businesses, and also to be a welcoming presence on the pier, giving locals and tourists alike an exciting retail opportunity. We are open every day – seven days a week. Come and have a browse – we have something for everyone! Cash and card payment are accepted.
The Entrance Kiosk
The entrance kiosk is manned 7 days a week by volunteers of the Friends of Bangor Garth Pier. This enables our lovely team to welcome visitors and collect the entrance charge of £0.50 for adults over 16. Annual and lifetime passes can also be purchased along with Student annual and 3-year passes. The Volunteers will also tell you about the pier’s history if you ask them.

The Old Penny Amusement Arcade
“Family fun for all ages,” is how Chris Fenney describes his new business The Old Penny Amusement Arcade. Vintage slot machines, including a puppet show, a 1920s film star machine and a grip tester are just a few of the games of skill that you can try in the Old Penny Arcade. The machines all work with an old-fashioned penny token, which you buy at the kiosk: £1 will buy 5 old penny tokens or £2 will buy 12 old penny tokens. Chris has renovated the machines himself which have no batteries or screens. He also hand painted all the signs and decorative panels in the kiosk. The Old Penny Arcade on the pier is a new venture for the Traditional Fairground Company run by Chris and his wife Zelda, who are hoping to help visitors to the pier to step back into a bygone era and enjoy a pastime that was once the height of popularity on many Victorian piers in their pier penny arcade.
