Santa’s Grotto first day fun! Still more to come!
The first afternoon at Santa’s Grotto by the pier was an amazing success. Said Friends of Bangor Garth Pier Chair Avril Wayte “What an amazing afternoon, full of Christmas cheer. Santa and his elves were on fine form. We had 47 children plus their parents visiting today.” In addition, some of the places were sponsored to enable children and families who might not otherwise be able to afford to see Santa to enjoy a visit to the grotto. “We are very grateful to Bangor Saints Football Club and Bangor Cathedral for sponsoring another 17 places on top of yesterday’s sponsors. What an amazing community we have in Bangor!! DIOLCH THANK YOU!” added Avril. Santa’s Grotto will be open on the weekends leading up to Christmas on 14th & 15th December and the 21stand 22nd December. FBGP has a new Patron – Revd. Wynne Roberts BEM
We are delighted to announce that our amazing new Patron is our very own Wynne Roberts. Until recently a Trustee and our Vice Chair, Wynne will now take on the role of Patron and help to promote the pier to the in the local community, the region, and the wider world. Thank you, Wynne, for everything that you have done for us so far and all that you will contribute in the future. Wynne was born in Bangor and has spent the majority of his life in the Bangor area. He studied at Bangor University and Cambridge, Wynne was ordained in the Church in Wales in 1987 and served as Minor Canon of Bangor Cathedral, Vicar of Porthmadog and Sub-Rector of Bangor. He has been the chaplain of Ysbyty Gwynedd for over 25 years. He is currently the Chaplain Manager of Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board. He has been a judicial member of the Mental Health Tribunal for Wales since 2001.
