My name is Charlotte Maloney. I’m originally from Yorkshire and moved to Bangor in 2018. Since then, I’ve really come to appreciate the strong sense of community here and the special place the Pier holds within it. I’m currently a student at Bangor University, studying Marine Biology and Oceanography. I have a particular interest in community outreach and enjoy helping to highlight the local marine life that can be experienced around the Pier and enjoyed by the local community, as well as students and visitors to the area. I have been a volunteer with the Friends of Bangor Garth Pier since it was established in 2020. Through volunteering, I’ve met some wonderful people, many of whom were among the first friends I made after moving to Bangor. I’m proud to be part of a group that supports such an important community space. The Pier is a place that so many people value and enjoy in their own way, and I’m glad to play a small part in helping to maintain and promote it for everyone.
