We have already enjoyed some early summer sunshine here in North Wales, and the pier continues to attract visitors from far and wide, who cannot fail to be charmed by the spectacular views and tranquil atmosphere. Our wonderful volunteers continue to offer a warm welcome at the entrance kiosk and the FBGP kiosk shop. Here are five reasons to visit the pier this summer.

  1. Stunning Views of the Menai Strait
The pier offers breath taking views across the Menai Strait to Anglesey and Snowdonia. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful stroll, scenic photos, or simply enjoying the sea breeze.
  2. Historic Victorian Architecture
Built in 1896, Garth Pier is a beautifully preserved example of Victorian engineering. One of only 7 Grade 2* listed piers in the whole of the UK, its unique kiosk design with the onion roofs and elegant ironwork makes it a truly special and charming destination.
  3. Local Treats and Artisan Kiosks
Along the pier, you’ll find small kiosks offering handmade crafts, snacks, and ice cream—perfect for a summer treat while supporting local businesses. Enjoy a ‘scuffin’ cream tea at Whistlestop; buy some traditional sweets at Pierside Delights which we think is the smallest sweetshop in North Wales; try local Welsh produce from Strait o Gymru; visit the Pavilion café for its iced coffees; peruse a local artist’s work at the gallery and of course drop into the FBGP shop for a gift (with all profits supporting the pier!).
  4. Family Fun with Crabbing
Crabbing off the pier is a classic summer activity. With just a line, bait, and a bucket, families can enjoy hours of fun catching and releasing crabs—an exciting and educational experience for children and adults alike.
  5. Support the Pier’s Future
Visiting Garth Pier is not just about enjoying the present—it’s also a chance to contribute to its future. Donations help preserve this historic landmark so that future generations can enjoy its beauty and heritage.
