The Whistlestop on the Pier café has a new home in the orange kiosk on the pier. And proprietors William (Scottie) and Judy Love could not be happier.

Said William, “We are now smack bang in the middle of the pier. Some of our regular customers are really pleased that they do not have to walk so far from the entrance of the pier for their Scuffins!”

The move was prompted by the urgently required renovation works on their old blue kiosk which would have forced the husband-and-wife team to shut for the summer season. The move to and refurbishment of the orange kiosk only took a week to complete and the café will now be open every day throughout the summer from 10 am.

“The location is ideal and the move has worked out really well for us,” William added.

Now in their fourth year of running the Whistlestop on the Pier, William and Judy will still be offering the same warm welcome to customers, as well as award winning Mario’s ice cream, soft drinks, tea, Lavazzo coffee, cakes, their famous Welsh rarebit and Scuffin cream teas. Scuffins for those who might not know are a cross between a scone and a muffin as mentioned in the Lonely Planet review of the café.

They will also be selling loaves of their homemade Bara Brith for customers who would like to take some home.

They are also pleased to be offering crab lines, bucket and bait for anyone wanting to go crabbing off the pier.

Said William, “We enjoy meeting new people from all around the world every day and working with the Friends of Bangor Garth Pier on events. We are really looking forward to the future.”
