FBGP present cheque for £40,000 to the Mayor of Bangor

The Friends of Bangor Garth Pier are delighted to announce that work started on the substructure of the pier on Monday 6th October. After the amazing success of the Appeal over the summer to raise £40,000 to complete the welding of the substructure, the trustees of the Friends of Bangor Garth Pier presented a cheque for the full amount to the Mayor of Bangor Cllr Medwyn Hughes, in a short ceremony on the same day. The £40,000 from the appeal will be matched with funding from Bangor City Council and the work is scheduled to be completed before the winter weather sets in. Said FBGP Chair Avril Wayte, “I have a message for our incredible donors. What a momentous occasion! We asked for your help, and you delivered! Thank you all so much. This is partnership working at its finest: Bangor City Council, Friends of Bangor Garth Pier, and the public. Appeal 2025 Update – We have raised 25% of our £40,000 target!

We have reached the end of the first week and got A QUARTER of the way due to lots of incredible donations including some awesome anonymous ones! DIOLCH, THANK YOU!! But we cannot stop there!!
