At the start of August the Friends of Bangor Garth Pier (FBGP) launched an appeal to raise £40,000 to complete the essential work on the substructure of the pier to make it safe and protect it for generations to come. The Trustees of the FBGP are delighted to announce that only three and a half weeks into their appeal, the £40,000 target has been reached. The £40,000 from the appeal will be matched with funding from Bangor City Council and the work is scheduled to start within the next few weeks weather and the contractor’s schedule permitting. The launch date coincided with Storm Floris arriving in Bangor but it did not deter the local and national media who were invaluable in helping to raise the profile of the appeal.
