Sonya Edwards was born in Bangor and raised in Felinheli. She has lived and worked in Bangor since the 1980s. After a fulfilling 42-year career in the NHS, Sonya retired in 2022, having worked as a senior nurse in the Intensive Care Unit and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Acute Pain Management. Following her retirement, Sonya began volunteering at Bangor Pier, where she assists in the entrance kiosk and the shop. Deeply passionate about the Pier’s role in the community, Sonya joined as a trustee to help preserve this historic structure. She is committed to ensuring the Pier remains a vibrant and welcoming space for both local residents and visitors for many years to come. Sonya is proud to work alongside a dedicated and joyful team, all united in their mission to protect and maintain the Pier as a cherished community asset.
