My name is Don Wayte, and I have been a trustee of Friends of Bangor Garth Pier since the charity’s inception in 2020. I worked as a Consultant Pathologist and Home Office Pathologist in North Wales for many years, and having settled in Bangor over 50 years ago, have grown to love our pier and am delighted to have a role in its protection. During my NHS career, I was Senior Consultant at Ysbyty Gwynedd for many years, and chaired the Consultants Committee, and also served on numerous other committees including the Welsh Medical Committee and Bangor University’s College Court of Governors. As well as being a trustee, I regularly volunteer at the pier’s entrance kiosk, and love the opportunity to be a welcoming face to our visitors, young and old. I believe the work we do is very important in protecting the pier for the future.
